When an inner situation is not made conscious, it appears outside as fate". Carl Jung"

Recall Healing® / German New Medicine

I first encountered the teaching of Recall Healing in the beginning of 2012. Immediately it felt to be Truth; I believe that's the correct way to think about disease; not as a random mistake but rather as a complex process by which the body attempts to balance itself.

It's a revolutionary approach which guides us toward more comprehensive understanding of causes, hidden logic and physiological processes leading to the onset of disease. From my point of view, it's one of the most fascinating and exciting fields of study I have ever been exposed to throughout my professional training.

Backed up by 50+ years of research, this approach leads to an understanding of natural mechanisms which honor not only our consciousness and high intelligence but also our bodies' survival instinct inherent in our biological existence. Our biological-survival mechanism, often creates physiological phenomenons whose purpose is to adapt the body to stress, trauma and/or internal and unresolved conflicts. There is a direct link between certain symptoms and different types of conflicts.

These insights immediately enlightened, clarified, connected edges and empowered my ability to advance healing and recovery for my clients and family members.

German New Medicine® (GNM), was founded by a German MD by the name of  Dr Ryke Geerd Hammer in 1979 and continues to develop to this day/ After more than 20 years of research and documentation of more than 40,000 cases, Dr Hammer was able to prove that a sequence of events impacts the psyche, a specific part of the brain, as well as a specific organ of the body simultaneously. He discovered that stress and/or trauma (conflicts) of a certain nature are responsible for the formation of certain illnesses and that this phenomenon makes perfect biological sense. German New Medicine is based upon a set of findings and universal biological principles which describe an illness as an interaction between the psyche' the brain and the body's organs.

For various reasons, several other versions and new expressions of GNM later formed. One of those versions was developed by a brilliant student of Dr Hammer, Dr Claude Saba, a medical doctor and a Jewish Kabbalist living in France. Dr Saba established in 1985 what he called "Total Biology". As a researcher and a highly acclaimed gifted teacher, Saba integrated his 35 years of experience as a physician in Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Sports Medicine, Oriental Medicine, Bio-Geneology, Anthropology, Psychotherapy as well as NLP, Kabbala, and deep observation of nature.

Dr. Gilbert Renaud from Canada, a direct student of Dr Hammer, gathered several methods of treatment and developed what he calls, Recall Healing in 1991. "I did not invent anything", says Gilbert, "I just put things together."

From Dr. Caroline Markolin's website:

"German New Medicine is neither an “alternative medicine”, nor an “integrative medicine”, nor a “complementary medicine”. Rather than on theories, the NEW MEDICINE is founded on natural biological laws. Firmly anchored in embryology, GNM offers a complete scientific system that allows to identify the causes of diseases, accurately predict their development, and recognize symptoms that indicate healing. The shift into the GNM paradigm involves exciting new approaches with regard to diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and prevention".

The term " New Medicine" is an expression which includes all versions and was not regarded as legitimate by Dr Hammer.

Dr Hammer's Story--How it All Begun

Dr. Ryke Geerd Hammer, Director of the Internal Medicine Department at the University Cancer Clinic, Munich Hospital was diagnosed in the beginning of 1979 with Testicular Cancer.  In August of 1978, Dr. Hammer's son Dirk, was critically injured in a shooting accident while vacationing on a yacht in Corsica. Hammer tried to save his son's life, but he died of his wounds about three months later. Being a strong, healthy man who had never been ill before, Dr. Hammer assumed that his illness was somehow related to the death of his son.  Never the less, according to everything he studied in medicine, it was supposed to take an average of a year and a half for this kind of a tumor to reach that size. This intrigued him. He agreed to remove the tumor but refused to remove the testicle or receive chemotherapy. Instead, he began to study the history of testicular cancer patients at the hospital. He found that most of them experienced some sort of a loss shortly before the onset of the disease. He then turned to interview women who had ovarian cancer and found similar stories.

As a research scientist with a background in Psychiatry, Dr. Hammer assumed that the body was controlled by the brain. He conducted CT brain scans of himself and his patients and discovered to his amazement that there was a perfect match between a particular shock, a certain disease and the way and location where a concentric spot would appear in the CT.  Until then, the radiologists assumed that these stains were simply technical errors of the device.

The assumption was that these brain changes cause a sequence of physiological changes that may ultimately manifest as symptoms of a particular disease in a target organ. He found that every part of the brain is programmed to activate a very specific type of physiological response to the survival needs of the body, so that each disease is actually a biological program of special significance. Dr. Hammer learned from his research to understand the unique meaning of each of these programs.

He also discovered that each disease has two (2) main stages.
Active phase -
the person is under the influence of a stress / trauma / conflict
Repair phase - begins when the conflict / shock passes.

The physiologically active phase is called the cold phase and is characterized by cold extremities, cold sweat, loss of appetite, fatigue, obsessive thinking, high stress, high anxiety, etc.
The repair phase occurs when the conflict stress is over and the body becomes available for rehabilitation.  Physiologically it is considered the hot phase. If I have not been able to sleep so far, I'm tired, if I have not eaten, now I'm hungry, my extremities are hot and I'm experiencing a kind of inflammatory process in my body. It is sometimes called a healing crisis.

What Is a Disease?

The Pyramid model is the best way to explain the formation of disease.
(All Rights Reserved to Gilbert Renaud & Recall Healing®)
מודל הפרמידה איך נוצרת מחלה

Imagine that the Pyramid represents a human being and contains 100% life energy.

The upper part represents consciousness and includes emotions, thoughts, decisions, beliefs, education, conditioning and the manner by which we tend to solve our problems in life.
The middle part represents the automatic brain whose function is to keep us alive. The automated brain makes calculations in order to maximize the benefit from every moment and make the best decision. If we are challenged by a succession of problems that we can not solve, if it undermines our tranquility, causes emotional overwhelm, sleeplessness and obsessive thinking, most of our energy is seemingly invested in the mind.
Over 90% of life energy might then be invested in the mind and it is as if the automatic brain remains only with 10% of the energy to monitor the survival of the body. The mind documents dangers. For example, the brain may register that I do not pay attention to my driving because I am preoccupied, or that I am completely exhausted from lack of sleep and poor functioning, etc. So what can the automated brain do to help me?
The brain can not find a solution outside the body and therefore there is only one option - to reduce part of the tension in the mind by transferring it to the body - that is, to the subconscious. Immediately, it makes it easier for me to function. The brain restores most of the energy needed to sustain survival, but now that the conflict is in the subconscious, it works on the body because it is not actually resolved.
The target organ produces a sequence of physiological processes that cause changes and ultimately, symptoms. That is, if I can not find a solution to my conflict with my mind, the automatic brain passes the solution to the body.

Each disease is in fact a biological program of special significance. It's the brain's most effective solution for continued survival

How to Heal a Disease?

Disease is then, not the enemy
It is the most efficient biological solution of our automatic brain for our survival

This may sound irrational for the long run but true in the short term. A person must reach an insight that his brain interpreted the situation in his life as a distress that could endanger him and therefore created an efficient mechanism for the time that would allow him to cope with the difficulty in the most optimal manner.

So our role is to become more aware, to identify what runs the drama behind the scenes, to take responsibility for our emotions, beliefs, patterns and meanings given to events and experiences, to take appropriate action so that we can release and embrace new insights, and most importantly, to persist with determination until we witness the results. Sometimes the mere flooding of relevant memory into the conscious mind is enough to cure a disease. At other times, a person has to undergo a process of healing emotions and embracing new identity.

find-148095_640We say that a session in Recall Healing is like being a memory dedective.
It is important to check which unresolved memory fed the disease and at what stage, and also why was it suppressed. It becomes complicated when we realize that the memories are not always ours. One of the things Dr. Hammer discovered was that only in 10% of cases the conflict is a short-term memory, that is, occurred in the person's life shortly before the disease.
In most cases, the original conflict took place in the distant past and was stored as software for survival ... and then the person experiences an event that triggers that program.

We examine three layers of memories.

The Life of a Person - especially the year preceding the appearance of the disease, the cyclicality of events containing an emotional load, etc.
Project Purpose--A year before conception, events and impressions during conception, birth and the first year of life. This is the time when the fetus's brain is imprinted with programs which will impact them for the rest of their lives.
Family Tree--All the significant experiences which took place over generations in the family tree. We usually look at 3 generations up. The idea is that offsprings in a lineage try to solve unresolved conflicts that their ancestors where not able to solve. This is the evolution of the tribe.

שושלת-עץ- משפחה"I feel very strongly that I am under the influence of things or questions which were left incomplete and unanswered by my parents and grandparents and more distant ancestors. It often seems as if there were an impersonal karma within a family which is passed on from parents to children. It has always seemed to me that I had to answer questions which fate had posed to my forefathers, and which had not yet been answered, or as if I had to complete, or perhaps continue, things which previous ages had left unfinished." Carl Jung, Memories, Dreams, Reflections

Dr. Hammer--The End of the Story and the Beginning of the Journey

Dr Hammer was completely cured of his testicular cancer without chemotherapy, radiation or removal of the testicles. He discovered that becoming aware of the link between a disease and the specific event that triggered it,  followed by releasing related emotions, frees the brain from the need to sustain it. He explained this formula to his patients, caused them to talk about unresolved emotional conflicts and many healed.  Dr Hammer was so excited that he wanted to talk about it on tv but was fired from his post instead.

What role does the brain play in the case of testicular or ovarian cancer?

If my child is in danger, is about to die, out of the evolutionary impulse and the biological instinct of the brain, I need to produce more sperm or more oocytes now to ensure the continuity of the generation. As if to produce a new child, or figuratively revive it. Therefore, there is a proliferation of cells - a tumor.

The End & the Continuation

Dr. Hammer's research challenges the common theory which relates to illness as an enemy that needs to be defeated. Rather it claims that illness is a deliberate process which is characterized by action / reaction between the psyche, the brain and a target organ. This refutes the view of disease as a malfunction of nature.

Like any groundbreaking theory that has far-reaching implications upon perceptions of health & healing as well as powerful economic interests, German New Medicine has also encountered many obstacles and strong opposition.

In 1981, Dr. Hammer presented his research to the University of Tübingen as a post-doctoral work, but the university committee rejected his work and refused to even examine it, a move that was unprecedented.
Shortly afterwards, he was given an ultimatum calling on him to deny all his findings or his employment contract would not be renewed. He was indeed dismissed and in 1986 a ruling was issued against him, prohibiting him from practicing medicine, even though his research has never been refuted. Since he refused to compromise and relinquish his findings, his license was revoked. In 1995, during a trial against him, his prosecutors had to inform the court that after examining 6,500 patients who were considered terminal, they found that 6000 were still alive five years after the diagnosis and most of them had fully recovered.

Dr. Hammer lived in Norway where he received asylum until his death in 2017.
